Integrity Corruption
"Then I have an Article II, where I have the right to do whatever I want as president.” - Donald Trump, 2019
The current administration in Washington has corruptly exceeded its legal and constitutional power in many ways, including:
Compromising the independence of the Justice Department—independence that is essential if the rule of law is to apply to all—by using the Department to attack Trump’s political opponents and reward his friends, for example, by stopping ongoing investigations of corporate corruption.
Dismantling or drastically cutting Federal agencies, like USAID and the Department of Education, that Congress created decades ago and has funded consistently since then.
Slashing Congressionally funded scientific and medical research, which provides lifesaving medical treatments and boosts our economy. Cutting clean energy grants only in Blue states; plus admitting in court that the sole reason for the cuts was the political leaning of the state.
Attacking press freedom by using the FCC to put financial and other pressure on news organizations (including CBS, NBC, and ABC) to provide more favorable coverage of the President.
Trump’s cabinet nominees are unqualified people and more loyal to Trump than the people their agency serves. Think Hegseth, Kennedy, Blanche. Being a media star does not make you qualified to lead.
The first order of business is for Congress to reassert that it has power of the purse and the power to create and disband Federal agencies, not the President.
Congress also needs to provide much better oversight regarding cabinet nominees and the politicization of federal agencies.
The Republican majority in Congress has shown over and over and over that they have abdicated their constitutional responsibility to provide a check on the President’s power.
Our current Republican representative in the House has been a loyal supporter of Trump’s corruption.
Eunice will fight hard in Congress to stop the growing corruption of the Trump administration and bring back the rule of law and our Constitutional checks and balances.
